Facilities & Clubs

FLICS (Forging Links in Stoke and Come) is a membership only social club. Due to the type of licence we have we cannot charge an admittance fee so there has to be a membership fee to cover our costs which are mainly the hire of the halls and the annual licence. The current annual membership fees are £4 for a single person, £7 for a couple and £10 for a family and this is renewable every October. Films are normally shown on the last Friday of each month but occasionally if the hall is not available the date has to be changed.

The intention was to use the Village Halls in both villages alternatively but it has turned out that it is more sensible to have the Dec, Jan, Feb and March Films in Stoke where the heating is more economic and to have the May, June, July and August films in Combe where it will be easier to ‘black out’ the hall on the light evenings.

Both halls have a Licenced Bar and Teas and Coffees are also available. You are welcome to bring your own bottles and pay a small amount of corkage.

We have also started a DVD library for members to borrow for 50p a time. These are available on the night.

Community Bulk Purchase of Firewood

There is a group (associated with Hare) that bulk purchase firewood at a reduced cost.  It is likely to be larch wood and the wood needs to be seasoned.  it is delivered as large logs that need to be cut to size - most people do it themselves but help could be provided at additional cost.  For more information please contact Peter Bulleid on peterbulleid@iib.ws.
